Head Coach Helmut DeGraff Mayer Bio

Helmut Mayer played his youth soccer in Europe, mainly in Austria and France. He began his youth soccer coaching career while at Tulane University. While a fulltime student, he was actively involved in several soccer clubs, including being the Director of the university's outreach program - a project designed to bring soccer to inner city children. In addition to his academic concentrations: History, German and International Relations; Helmut completed significant course work in Athletic Training & Injury Prevention and Developmental / Child Psychology.

After university, Helmut moved to New York to pursue his full-time professional career, he continued to stay actively involved in soccer, coaching his first Manhattan team in the Fall of 2004. Now in his fifth season with MSC, Helmut has held head and assistant coaching positions on multiple teams. As a head coach he has so far won five division titles, two sportsmanship awards and one WYSL double-coaching award. In addition to MSC he has worked with the WYSL Select program.
